Read “The End” up through page 485, and be prepared for a reading quiz. Also be prepared to share your three favorite moments from the essay and explain why it is your favorite. Be sure to finish your worksheet as well. If you have time, finish “The End” and begin on “The Elegant Eyeball.” You may also want to start Zinsser chapter 6, which we will also discuss on Thursday (it’s short).
For the worksheet, trimming sentences involves crossing out nonessential prepositional phrases, cutting out interrupting phrases, and eliminating nonessential modifiers. Reduce the sentence to its essential parts and then fix any agreement errors you find.
